Pyrrhic Saltatrix

MY GREAT-GRANDMA had one of these plants in her side garden. It’s a little African kniphofia called the “Red Hot Poker”, or “Lily Torch”, or “Fire Dance”. I planted one along the patio walk to honor a friend going through an excruciating ordeal. I’m not the best gardener so my yucca didn’t make it, but my kind sister did. Lord knows we’ll dance again.
